2020-07-16arm64: compat: Ensure upper 32 bits of x0 are zero on syscall returnWill Deacon1-1/+11
Although we zero the upper bits of x0 on entry to the kernel from an AArch32 task, we do not clear them on the exception return path and can therefore expose 64-bit sign extended syscall return values to userspace via interfaces such as the 'perf_regs' ABI, which deal exclusively with 64-bit registers. Explicitly clear the upper 32 bits of x0 on return from a compat system call. 2019-04-05syscalls: Remove start and number from syscall_set_arguments() argsSteven Rostedt (VMware)1-18/+4
After removing the start and count arguments of syscall_get_arguments() it seems reasonable to remove them from syscall_set_arguments(). Note, as of today, there are no users of syscall_set_arguments(). But we are told that there will be soon. But for now, at least make it consistent with syscall_get_arguments(). 2019-04-05syscalls: Remove start and number from syscall_get_arguments() argsSteven Rostedt (Red Hat)1-19/+3
At Linux Plumbers, Andy Lutomirski approached me and pointed out that the function call syscall_get_arguments() implemented in x86 was horribly written and not optimized for the standard case of passing in 0 and 6 for the starting index and the number of system calls to get. When looking at all the users of this function, I discovered that all instances pass in only 0 and 6 for these arguments. Instead of having this function handle different cases that are never used, simply rewrite it to return the first 6 arguments of a system call. This should help out the performance of tracing system calls by ptrace, ftrace and perf. 2019-03-20syscall_get_arch: add "struct task_struct *" argumentDmitry V. Levin1-2/+2
This argument is required to extend the generic ptrace API with PTRACE_GET_SYSCALL_INFO request: syscall_get_arch() is going to be called from ptrace_request() along with syscall_get_nr(), syscall_get_arguments(), syscall_get_error(), and syscall_get_return_value() functions with a tracee as their argument. The primary intent is that the triple (audit_arch, syscall_nr, arg1..arg6) should describe what system call is being called and what its arguments are. 2018-07-12arm64: implement syscall wrappersMark Rutland1-3/+1
To minimize the risk of userspace-controlled values being used under speculation, this patch adds pt_regs based syscall wrappers for arm64, which pass the minimum set of required userspace values to syscall implementations. For each syscall, a wrapper which takes a pt_regs argument is automatically generated, and this extracts the arguments before calling the "real" syscall implementation. Each syscall has three functions generated: * __do_<compat_>sys_<name> is the "real" syscall implementation, with the expected prototype. * __se_<compat_>sys_<name> is the sign-extension/narrowing wrapper, inherited from common code. This takes a series of long parameters, casting each to the requisite types required by the "real" syscall implementation in __do_<compat_>sys_<name>. This wrapper *may* not be necessary on arm64 given the AAPCS rules on unused register bits, but it seemed safer to keep the wrapper for now. * __arm64_<compat_>_sys_<name> takes a struct pt_regs pointer, and extracts *only* the relevant register values, passing these on to the __se_<compat_>sys_<name> wrapper. The syscall invocation code is updated to handle the calling convention required by __arm64_<compat_>_sys_<name>, and passes a single struct pt_regs pointer. The compiler can fold the syscall implementation and its wrappers, such that the overhead of this approach is minimized. Note that we play games with sys_ni_syscall(). It can't be defined with SYSCALL_DEFINE0() because we must avoid the possibility of error injection. Additionally, there are a couple of locations where we need to call it from C code, and we don't (currently) have a ksys_ni_syscall(). While it has no wrapper, passing in a redundant pt_regs pointer is benign per the AAPCS. When ARCH_HAS_SYSCALL_WRAPPER is selected, no prototype is defines for sys_ni_syscall(). Since we need to treat it differently for in-kernel calls and the syscall tables, the prototype is defined as-required. The wrappers are largely the same as their x86 counterparts, but simplified as we don't have a variety of compat calling conventions that require separate stubs. Unlike x86, we have some zero-argument compat syscalls, and must define COMPAT_SYSCALL_DEFINE0() to ensure that these are also given an __arm64_compat_sys_ prefix. 2018-07-12arm64: convert native/compat syscall entry to CMark Rutland1-0/+4
Now that the syscall invocation logic is in C, we can migrate the rest of the syscall entry logic over, so that the entry assembly needn't look at the register values at all. The SVE reset across syscall logic now unconditionally clears TIF_SVE, but sve_user_disable() will only write back to CPACR_EL1 when SVE is actually enabled. 2014-05-29arm64: ftrace: Add system call tracepointAKASHI Takahiro1-0/+1
This patch allows system call entry or exit to be traced as ftrace events, ie. sys_enter_*/sys_exit_*, if CONFIG_FTRACE_SYSCALLS is enabled. Those events appear and can be controlled under ${sysfs}/tracing/events/syscalls/ Please note that we can't trace compat system calls here because AArch32 mode does not share the same syscall table with AArch64. Just define ARCH_TRACE_IGNORE_COMPAT_SYSCALLS in order to avoid unexpected results (bogus syscalls reported or even hang-up). 2013-10-23arm64: check for number of arguments in syscall_get/set_arguments()AKASHI Takahiro1-0/+6
In ftrace_syscall_enter(), syscall_get_arguments(..., 0, n, ...) if (i == 0) { <handle orig_x0> ...; n--;} memcpy(..., n * sizeof(args[0])); If 'number of arguments(n)' is zero and 'argument index(i)' is also zero in syscall_get_arguments(), none of arguments should be copied by memcpy(). Otherwise 'n--' can be a big positive number and unexpected amount of data will be copied. Tracing system calls which take no argument, say sync(void), may hit this case and eventually make the system corrupted. This patch fixes the issue both in syscall_get_arguments() and syscall_set_arguments().
